OUR PREDICTIONS
FOR 2020 Blog Single

Hello 2020! It’s hard to believe we are already not only 5 days into the year, but the new decade too. We have noticed a huge shift in mentality to start the year, with many people choosing to make positive goals rather than making resolutions. This year is a big year for Dubai and the United Arab Emirates as the city prepares to welcome the world to The World’s Greatest Show – Expo 2020 in October. The show will last 173 days, taking us through into 2021. It is said to be the time to create, collaborate and innovate. But what else are we expecting to happen this year?

  • Social Media Platforms will become more mindful of Mental Health.
Instagram kick started the trend of becoming more aware of mental health when they began to hide likes and negative content late last year. Whilst this is great for consumers, marketers now face challenges in terms of relying on “likes” to understand the users’ influence. We’re expecting this trend to evolve and expand to platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
  • Live content will dominate.
We already know that video content is king and consumers say it is their most preferred choice of content. Now Social Media algorithms are prioritising real-time content meaning if you want to be seen, you need to use live to your advantage. It has been said that using this feature will produce 79% more authentic interactions and it has been predicted that live streaming will be a $70.5 billion industry by 2021.
  • The wallet is going to die.
With people now relying on apple pay and other digital wallets, the need to carry your actual wallet is soon to become history. Think about it, your smart phone allows you to carry a digital boarding pass to get on a flight, it allows you to enter concerts, cinemas and in some cases, it can be used as your ID too.

There you have it, our 3 predictions for 2020! What do you think of them? How do you think the digital world will look in 12 months' time? We’re excited to find out.
